If you have decided to start blogging, what do you do when you do launch your blog?
Thanks to Brian Clark of Copy Blogger I came across a great post by Aviva Directory with 21 actions we can take when launching your new blog – or perhaps given your blog an extreme makeover.
Three additional suggestions I would make are:
- remember to add a link to your blog with a compelling call to action in your newsletter
- don’t forget to add a link to your blog in your email signature – this could be a static link or a widget for example from Feedburner which highlights the title of your most recent post and a link for people to subscribe
- consider writing a press release and submitting it to the online press release sites – but make sure that your press release is newsworthy.
And remember make sure that your communication to business partners, clients and other stakeholders about your new blog is not just to announce that you are now blogging. Consider what is in it for them and structure your communication about that – for example can you direct them to a post that they will find of interest?
If you are encouraging your clients or business partners to post comments, many people are still unsure about blogs and blogging so you may need to give them some advice about how to do this effectively and in support of their own business.
And if all else fails, you could always incorporate the announcement of your new online marketing strategy in other communication such as your “Thanksgiving” email or your email wishing them every success for the festive season.
