I’m always on the look out for new business building tools that help you build your brand – especially if they are no cost or low cost.
Well today I came across Gabcast, a great programme where you can record audio over the phone and create a podcast or audio file for up to an hour in length.
You might well ask why look at Gabcast if I already podcast.
Well at the moment I am experimenting but there are a few great features that I’ve seen are available and might be especially interesting if you are not technically proficient, do not want to learn the technology of podcasting or are not able to afford to outsource production. With Gabcast you can:
- call a telephone line and record your audio – this can be one on one or you can host a conference call
- publish the audio recording on the Gabcast site adding search engine friendly words and tags
- once the audio has been uploaded, you can take the link to the audio file and embed it into your business blog
- email a link to a friend
- and add it to your Facebook profile.
The downsides are that you can not edit the audio file so if you make a little mess of what you are talking about you either have to carry on recording or delete and start again.
I created two different channels today, one where I will provide short audio tips about building a compelling employer brand to attract and retain talent and the other for personal branding tips to support your career and professional success.
One option could be to dictate your blog post articles into Gabcast and then give your blog subscribers an alternative way of accessing your content as there is the facility for people to subscribe to your show by RSS feed or by email.
I think Gabcast is a potentially great tool for someone who is interested in adding audio files to their blog in a low tech way – I’ll experiment over the next few weeks with short audio files (less than 5 minutes long) and see if it adds value to Todays Women in Business. The trick will be using content I have already created and re-purposing it
Remember, adding audio to your website and business blog if weel executed can increase the length of time people spend on your site as you can read about in this article and brings your pesonal brand to life.
If you are using Gabcast I’d love to hear of your experiences and any tips you have for making the most out of this great free tool.
