Here’s a helpful tip if you have signup pages on your website or blog so that you don’t embarass yourself with visitors to your website or blog.If you have a product or service that you invite others to subscribe to, for example a teleseminar or white paper, be sure to register for that same programme through your website or blog to ensure that you see the messages that your client will receive and experience the process you are taking them through.
Increasingly I have seen people using shopping carts to get people to subscribe for no cost events - actually making them got through a long process where they have to submit their physical address and even a validation code to register for the event.
I recommend you create a sign up box using your shopping cart then add the HTML code to your website or blog that just requires people to enter in their name, email address and geographic location. The latter is useful if you plan to communicate again to those people for events or programmes that are being help in a specific vicinity rather than inviting people to an event.
Today I tried to register on three different websites for information and either the links did not work at all or the process was arduous taking me through a full shopping cart process.
Many a prospect will not pursue the process – actually I emailed all three providers to advise them of the glitches with their web sites as I personally appreciate knowing if there are problems visitors to my websites experience.
The moral to the tale – walk the path you expect your prospect of client to walk be that online or offline so you experience your brand in real time.
P.S. Remember to review your website or blog to check how easy it is for website and blog visitors to get in contact with you – your goal is to ensure that engaging with you online is an easy process.
All to often on websites of professional services firms, the contact details are well hidden – it’s as if those firms don’t want prospects and clients to contact them and then they wonder why they aren’t booked solid with clients.
