In the recent series of Bank of Ireland seminars, it’s been great to connect with the Ebay Ireland team.
I have to admit that Ebay is not a platform I have personally used in my business to extend my reach online – however I am so convinced that it’s a terrific platform that I’m including it in my forthcoming book, ‘42 Ways Of Managing Through a Recession’.
I had the opportunity to speak with Aine Murphy from the business development team in Ebay Ireland recently and in this video she shares three reasons why you might want to consider using Ebay in your business. (Click on the image and the video will open up at YouTube, com).
And talking about online, then using video is a great way to bring your brand to life online. I have been testing out a site that is new to me this week and I have to say it’s probably the easiest way I have found to add intro’s and exits to your online video – in fact you can create a montage of video’s and images.
You don’t even need to encode the video, it has a free option (which I used in this video so has it’s branding embedded in your video) and has a multiple of players in it’s paid for service. You can also post direct to other online social networks in including Facebook and it’s just one click to upload to YouTube.
I uploaded my video direct from my small camera – but if you had stills, they also have the opportunity for you to add audio tracks to create an animated video which you can then share online, download to your hard drive, add to Tivo or even create a DVD and therefore create information products.
The site is called OneTrueMedia and is definitely worth exploring.

Companies seem to ignore the single largest online branding/advertising venue available: their own regular external emails. Why not use these emails to market the senders company?
You have a website.
You send emails.
Why not multiply your sales-staff by “wrapping” the regular email in an interactive letterhead?
No other marketing or advertising medium is as targeted as an email between people that know each other (as opposed to mass emails). These emails are always read and typically kept.

I used to sell quite a lot on ebay and would recommend it to anyone wanting to get selling quickly and cheaply to the maximum possible market.
I continue to list my services on ebay ireland and my ebay presence can be found in google for my main search terms, well ahead of other social networking sites which makes it very useful.
It has to be said however that there is a general consensus with ebay sellers that the company is loosing touch with the people who made ebay in the first place, the simple guy in the street with a few things to get rid of. Seems that ebay now favor power sellers and larger companies who only wish to sell at fixed prices rather than auctions.
I’ve lost a little interest in it for this reason and the fact that they can’t be contacted for support!
