I have not been automatically following people as I know there are a number of spam accounts and therefore I know when I have been away on business or work has been hectic there are some people I have missed connecting with.
I’ve been exploring a number of applications to support my life on Twitter and in this short video I share some ideas about how you might want to manage your Twitter friends and fans.

I don’t auto-follow. I try to follow people who I have an interest in or, at least, show a history of actually being a regular contributor to Twitter. Some people follow a bunch of people and have hardly any updates. No thanks on those.
