Two dates of note for the calendar this spring of free (no cost) must attend events are in my diary.
Networking online is great, but connecting face to face – well that really is three dimensional networking!
The first is TeenCamp Ireland which is taking place on Saturday 17 January 2009 at Filmbase in Dublin – now I know I am not a teenager but I am thinking of going along for part of the session as my eldest daughter is really excited about technology. (She’s not a teenager either, but hopefully the organisers won’t mind). Be sure to share this with teenagers you know – by the way I hear they might be providing pizza), but you need to register for TeenCamp Ireland HERE.
Then on Saturday 28 March 2008 OSS Barcamp is taking place in Dublin. Again it’s free to attend. I am not at all a techy. Nor could I write a piece of code to save my life. The value for me is the connection with people and the conversations that I’ll have. alongside new words that could make me sound intelligent. Again you need to register for OSS Barcamp – why not head on over now and put that date in the diary to learn more about open source software. You can also register if you would like to suggest a topic for discussion or to speak.
And if you are interested in hearing more about these events, why not listen to this weeks PodCamp Ireland podcast where we talked about what’s happening and what’s catching our attention in the world of social media and digital media in Ireland. You can download the PodCamp Ireland podcast or listen to it live streaming from the web HERE.
