Are your information products on-brand?

One of the key strategies I teach my clients is the importance of creating information products - from e-books to audio tutorials, from white papers to webinars.

Information products can both help you generate more leads and attract more clients and to create new streams of revenue in your practice.

It goes without saying that the content of your information products needs to be valuable - no matter if it is free or if you charge a fee - if you are going to encourage subscribers to your information products to want to know more about your business and ultimately become a client or customer.

However an often over looked element is the packaging of your information product.

Whether you are producing a virtual product or a physical product, the way that your information product is presented can significantly impact the decision of someone to either offer their email address for your free information product or get their credit card out to invest in your product.

Make sure your blog fulfills legal requirements in Ireland

Following on from my post on the changes in UK legislation and the requirements placed on business owners to provide specific details on your website and blog, here is the information relating to changes effective from the 1 January 2007 in Ireland.

The following is an extract from the December newsletter of the Companies Registration Office - the full newsletter can be accessed here.

Changes to Publication/Disclosure Requirements

With effect form 1 January 2007 the information required to be specified on paper company letters and order forms will be extended to electronic form.

In addition every company that has a website will be required to display on its homepage those same particulars or identify on its homepage and make readily accessible a webpage on which the particulars appear.

The particulars are as follows:

(a) that the company is registered in Ireland and the number with which it is registered;

(b) the address of the registered office;

(c) in the case of a company exempt from the obligation to use the word “limited” or “teoranta” as part of  its name, the fact that it is a limited company.

It’s a good time to audit your website to ensure that you comply with the new changes.

The CRO in Ireland make available a number of useful information leaflets and you can subscribe to their newsletter if you want to keep up todate with changes.

Many thanks to Michele who informed me about the recent CRO communication.

Make sure your blog fulfills legal requirements

Recent legistlation came into force in the UK that applies to legal requirements online and therefore applies to your website, blog and emails.

Even if you are not based in the UK, the following would be considered good practice, so I recommend that you audit your compliance against these guidelines and you may want to seek legal guidance to ensure you cover your own local jurisdiction. Continue reading
