I invest a lot of time in speaking, facilitating and participating in conferences, workshops, radio shows and virtual events sharing how to build brand engagement and extend your reach when marketing your business, your products and you as a leader using digital strategies and social media platforms.
This also means that I too can discover leading edge proven solutions through the research I do and also the people I meet.
In the majority of cases where I speak, facilitate or present, I receive a speaker fee and reimbursement of my travel and related expenses are paid for.
At some events, I speak on a pro bono basis. See my policy on fee or pro bono for more information.
Since 2005, I have been immersed in new media, it’s impact and relevance in branding, marketing, communications and engagement and how organisations can best use these new platforms to attract more prospects and more profit.
I do charge a fee and out-of-pocket expenses (such as travel and accommodation) to speak at a conference, workshop or other type of event, especially where the events organiser charges people a fee to attend and/or the event is sponsored by one or more organisations.
Why do I do this? Well speaking is one of the ways I earn a living, and every speaking event I present at I customise the content which can take me from a few hours to several days so that the content is relevant to your audience.
No I don’t have a stock of presentations or PowerPoint slides I dust off from the bookshelf or the hard drive of my computer.
I also receive feedback all the time from events organisers and delegates that my content is entertaining, educational and inspiring. In fact in the Bank of Ireland series which I have participated in over 2 years, I know that I am usually placed near the end of the speaker line up as my content is what really engages and connects with the audience (their Head of Marketing says “we keep the best till last”).
I do participate in events on a pro bono basis (i.e. not charge a speaking fee) if the organiser or the event beneficiary is a not-for-profit organisation, or the event has a compelling appeal to me such that I really want to be involved, fee or not.
I may waive a speaking fee at a for-profit event if no other speaker is receiving a fee or other form of compensation.
If you’re planning a conference, workshop or seminar and would like to discuss how we can work together, do get in touch.
You can find details of some of the events I have recently attended a a speaker and subject matter expert HERE.

If as an event organiser you are considering presenting me with a gift, my preference is that you make a contribution to my charity of choice Water Aid. WaterAid’s vision is of a world where everyone has access to safe water and sanitation and their mission is to overcome poverty by enabling the world’s poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education. If your organisation has a preferred charity that you work with, then I have no problem them being a beneficiary especially if the charity is related to literacy, the environment, child health or entrepreneurship.
